(Italiano) Volterra: tornano le “cene galeotte” fra solidarietà, socialità e grande cucina
by Simone Focardi – From November 22, 2013 to 20 June 2014. Again the highly anticipated series of dinners open to the public in the beautiful Medici fortress that houses the house Imprisonment of Volterra.
In the prison kitchen professional chefs side by side with the prisoners for a unique initiative high social value and beneficial.
All ready for the appointment number eight with ” Cene galeotte” , a unique initiative which combines the pleasures of the table with a plan for strong social value.
After the growing success recorded in the previous editions – and the more than 1,000 participants last year, as many as 10,000 of its “first” – Friday, November 22 Apart from the new edition. The staff of the House of Detention of Volterra welcome the public for another unforgettable moment of solidarity with the prisoners committed alongside professional chefs in the preparation of eight dinners on a monthly basis until June 2014.
An event from the soul even beneficial , since the proceeds (the cost of each dinner is 35 € per person) will, as always entirely donated to humanitarian projects supported by the Foundation ‘s heart melts , which since 2000 sees Unicoop engaged with the world: voluntary secular and Catholic.
It renews and therefore the possibility of a unique experience for visitors , but also a time lived with great involvement by inmates , who, thanks to training in living room and kitchen are acquiring a professional background in sixteen cases has resulted in real job at local restaurants, according to Art. 21, which regulates the work outside the prison.
New chef – Tuscan and non – involved in the project , new and exciting evenings , but winning formula remains unchanged.
The splendid Medici fortress that houses the House of Detention , an example of the most beautiful and best -preserved Renaissance military architecture , will open its doors at 19.30 for an aperitif , served in the courtyard under the ancient walls .
Following dinner ( 20.30 ) , served in the old chapel of the transformed for the occasion in the dining room with lots of candles , waiters / detainees in uniform and , in the pot, a rich menu prepared by the inmates with the support of a professional chef who will provide – free of charge – all his experience . To accompany the course a selection of wines supp , also in this case free of charge, from a winery.
The project is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, the direction of the house Imprisonment of Volterra, the artistic supervision of the journalist and wine critic Leonardo Romanelli , who shall identify the chefs involved in the event .
A key role is also played by the Fisar – Delegation of Historic Volterra, who during the year as well as offering training to detainees a professional through a program of lectures, takes care of the service and selection of wineries gradually involved.
