Monteriggioni: via alla più grande festa medievale di ToscanaMonteriggioni: go at the largest medieval festival in Tuscany
di Nadia Fondelli – Negli ultimi due week end di luglio: il 18,19,20 e 25, 26, 27 ecco «Monteriggioni di Torri si Corona» nel castello di Monteriggioni.
Una festa ormai famosa che non è solo festa ma che è anche un po’ festival, con il divertimento intrecciato alla ricerca e lo spettacolo che diventa cultura.
Tante le sorprese di questa nuova edizione che rientra nei festeggiamenti per l’800° anniversario dalla fondazione del Castello di Monteriggioni, un luogo magico citato da Dante nella Divina Commedia, attraversato dalla Via Francigena e così particolare dal punto di vista iconografico da diventare teatro di «Assassin’s Creed», videogioco universalmente noto tra le giovani generazioni.
Tra le novità, oltre al nuovo tema «Delle Armi e degli Amori», c’è la direzione artistica affidata al cantautore, attore, regista David Riondino che racconta:
«Ribadiremo l’idea di festa con le sue caratteristiche tradizionali e cioè gli stand col cibo, il cambio dell’euro in “Grossi” senesi, il gusto della convivialità, la visita en plein air al Castello…Il lato inedito starà nell’affiancare a questi elementi già consolidati i primi segni di un festival della letteratura, del gesto, della musica e del teatro medievale. In modo particolare porteremo in scena alcuni testi e poemi composti nel medioevo o che a quest’epoca si riferiscono».
La prima proposta sarà «Erec e Enide», un poema narrativo scritto intorno al 1190 dal francese Chrétien de Troyes.
«Racconta la difficile conciliazione tra valore cavalleresco e amore coniugale – spiega il direttore artistico – Erec, accusato dagli amici cavalieri di trascurare tornei e scorribande una volta sposatosi con l’amata Enide, (oggi diremmo che aveva appeso l’armatura al chiodo) partirà con lei per affrontare insieme mirabili imprese.
Bella metafora che ci viene da lontano di come un matrimonio d’amore debba essere avventura condivisa. Sarò in scena io a leggere il poema accompagnato dal contraltista Stefano Albarello». Ritmata e incalzante sarà «La Fuga di Enea» riletta sotto forma di cunto siciliano dal racconta-storie di grande e riconosciuta tradizione Vincenzo Pirrotta, che affascinerà il pubblico narrando con il tipico ritmo del cunto le storie degli eroi.
«Alla tradizione classica – continua Riondino – sicuramente si rifacevano i racconta-storie medievali: e il cunto, dove testo e interpretazione si fondono musicalmente, è probabilmente la forma artistica più vicina alla maniera degli antichi narratori».
«Mi piacerebbe – conclude – che Monteriggioni iniziasse un cammino per diventare nel tempo il Castello Perfetto, il luogo in cui si svolge un grande festival europeo su tutto ciò che il Medioevo continua, in termini d’arte, ad evocare.”
Un aspetto inedito di questa edizione sarà un’attenzione maggiore nei confronti dei particolari ricostruttivi utilizzati per le rievocazioni storiche, firmate dalla direzione scientifica di Marco Valenti, docente di archeologia medievale e cristiana all’Università di Siena.
Protagonista sarà la living history, ossia il tentativo di far vivere un certo periodo storico (in questo caso, ovviamente, il Medioevo) attraverso un’attenzione filologica nei confronti dei materiali usati, delle abitudini e della mentalità del tempo. Fuori e dentro le mura saranno ricostruite tre bolle temporali (l’alto medioevo, l’epoca comunale e l’epoca delle campagne mercenarie) in cui si potranno incontrare artigiani al lavoro ma anche cavalieri, armati e fanti impegnati in giostre e tornei. La particolarità è che a dar loro vita non saranno attori, come avviene nella maggior parte delle feste, ma archeologi, studiosi o comunque grandi appassionati di Medioevo con alle spalle ore e ore trascorse in biblioteca per entrare fino in fondo nella mente del personaggio da ricostruire attraverso ricerche storiche, iconografiche e archeologiche.
Grandi e scenografici saranno gli spettacoli di strada che in tarda serata si alterneranno nella piazza centrale del Castello, per la gioia di grandi e piccini.
Andranno in scena «Simurgh» della compagnia Teatro dei Venti, «Sibilla» del Teatro del Ramiro e «Incanto» della Compagnia dei Folli: una serie di azioni teatrali con trampoli, acrobazie, canti, danze e giochi luminosi tutti da vedere oltre che da ascoltare.
Tante infine le occasioni dedicate ai più piccoli che avranno una zona della festa tutta per loro. Ci saranno laboratori durante i quali i bimbi potranno creare divertenti oggetti medievali e si alterneranno momenti di gioco, spettacolo e intrattenimento con Carognino e il teatro dei burattini di Claudio Cinelli e della Compagnia Follemente.
In più per le strade e le piazze spettacoli di fachiri, giullari, musici, performer, duelli, danze e artisti di strada, ogni volta annunciati al pubblico da araldi dislocati in vari angoli del castello.

A now-famous festival which is not only the party but that is also a little ‘festival, with fun woven into the research and the spectacle that becomes the culture.
There are many surprises in this new edition that is part of the celebrations for the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Castle of Monteriggioni, a magical place mentioned by Dante in the Divine Comedy, crossed by the Via Francigena and especially so from the iconographic point of view to become the scene of “Assassin’s Creed” video game universally known among the younger generation.
Among the changes, in addition to the new theme “Of Arms and the Loves,” is the artistic lead of the singer-songwriter, actor, director David Rion said that:
“Reiterating the idea of celebration with its traditional features, namely the stands with food, the exchange rate of the euro in” Big “Siena, the taste of conviviality, a visit to the Castle en plein air … The new side will stay in assisting these elements already established the first signs of a literature festival, craft, music and theater medieval. In particular, we will bring on stage a few texts and poems composed in the Middle Ages or that relate to this period. ”
The first proposal will be “Erec and Enide”, a narrative poem written around 1190 by the French Chrétien de Troyes.

“I’d like – he concludes – Monteriggioni which began a quest to become in time the Great Castle, the place in which it plays a major European festival of everything that continues in the Middle Ages, in terms of art, to evoke.”
A novel aspect of this edition will be more attention towards the particular reconstructive used for pageants, signed by the scientific direction of Marco Valenti, a professor of medieval archeology and the Christian University of Siena.
The protagonist will be the living history, namely the attempt to live a certain historical period (in this case, of course, the Middle Ages) through philological attention to materials used, habits and mentality of the time. Outside and inside the walls will be rebuilt three bubbles of time (the early Middle Ages, the era and the era of municipal campaigns mercenary) where you can meet artisans at work but also knights, tanks and infantry engaged in jousts and tournaments. The peculiarity is that to bring them to life will not be actors, as is the case in most of the festivities, but archaeologists, scholars or otherwise big fans of the Middle Ages behind with hours and hours spent in the library to enter fully into the character’s mind to rebuild through historical research, iconographic and archaeological evidence.
Large and spectacular street performances that will be later in the evening will alternate in the central square of the castle, to the delight of young and old.
Happening “Simurgh” of the company Teatro dei Venti, “Sybil” and the Theatre of Ramiro “Incanto” of the Society of Fools: A series of dramatic actions with stilts, acrobatics, singing, dancing, games and bright all to see as well as by listen.
Finally, many occasions dedicated to children who will have an area of the feast of their own. There will be workshops in which children can create fun medieval objects and will alternate moments of the game, shows and entertainment with Carognino and the puppet theater Claudio Cinelli and the Company Madly.
In addition to the streets and squares performances fakirs, jugglers, musicians, performers, duels, dances and street artists, every time announced to the public by heralds located in various corners of the castle.
